DagonIn my opinion, Dagon is one of the best film adaptations of an H. P. Lovecraft story that I have seen. It’s based off the short story The Shadow Over Innsmouth. There are quite a few differences in the movie versus the story but keeping an open mind about it enhances the movie watching experience. Keep in mind it isn’t a complete translation of text to screen, it’s simply based on the story and breathes an air of familiarity when you watch it. Truth be told I didn’t know what it was supposed to be the first time I watched it. With a name like Dagon one could suppose a great many things, but it’s best to hold off on it and enjoy the ride. The cast is made up of relatively unknown actors. The acting wasn’t bad, it was actually refreshing to see a movie without big names and inflated expectations. I highly recommend this movie, even to those who are not familiar with the mythos. This movie has remained in my favorite movie vault since the first time I saw it many many years ago.Review by Grimm Lynn
